San Diego

San Diego is California's second-largest city. It is located on the Pacific coast and welcomes visitors with its warm climate, parks, and marvelous beaches. This melting pot of multiple cultures boasts numerous art galleries, places of interest, and original dishes.

Food

Crisp fries with perfectly grilled meat, shredded cheese, sour cream, and guacamole are mixed in Carne Asada Fries. This dish was born in San Diego, and Lolita's Mexican Food is believed to be its creator. However, you can taste this with other toppings at La Puerta. Vegetarian-friendly Pokez Restaurant offers an amazing alternative to the Carne Asada Fries – well-flavored tofu fries.

California burritos have the same filling as Carne Asado but are wrapped in a loaf of pitta bread. They are extremely popular and can be got from any bar, taco shop, or restaurant. Taco Surf PB serves delicious 1lb burritos, so grab a friend to share this snack.

Culture

If you want to take a look at vintage police uniforms, badges, and handcuffs of San Diego, visit its County Sheriff's Museum. Located in Old Town, the exhibit boasts a helicopter and patrol car.

To see the editor's office of the first local newspaper, tour the recreated rooms of the San Diego Union Museum. If you want to experience some mystery of this place, visit Casa de Estudillo – a house where the earliest families of San Diego lived. This building is believed to be full of ghosts.

Activities

For those who like strolling and various activities, the Strand – three miles of oceanfront and beaches – is a perfect match. At Strand, people play volleyball, enjoy surfing, or watch others doing this. When you get tired of crowds, go to Torrey Pines State National Reserve. Drive up to the Four Seasons and walk to the trail. Or, take Lyft or Uber as they know the area well, and the drive will take around 20 minutes. Once you arrive, hike to the very ocean to see migrating seals and whales.
